Brown marmorated stink bug ( Halyomorpha halys ) feeding damage determines early drop in olive crops

چکیده

The brown marmorated stink bug (BMSB), Halyomorpha halys Stål, is an invasive species and a polyphagous pest. BMSB feeding activity was suspected to be responsible for olive damage. To evaluate the effect of damage from adults nymphs BMSB, 30 rearing sleeves were positioned in grove, at early stage drupe development. individuals kept 48 h, number olives each sleeve checked weekly, visually assessing signs measuring their volume. After 48-hr exposure, dropped significantly higher containing compared with control, visible volume still attached lower adults. These results provide key evidence on developing olives. If numbers keep increasing Mediterranean regions (where most production occurs), actions should taken prevent economic losses.

Characterizing Damage of Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) in Blueberries.

Brown marmorated stink bug, Halyomorpha halys (Stål) (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae), is a severe economic pest of growing importance in the United States, Canada, and Europe. While feeding damage from H. halys has been characterized in tree fruit, vegetables, and agronomic crops, less is known about the impacts of stink bugs on small fruits such as blueberries. In this study, we examined H. halys fe...

Quantitative RT-PCR Gene Evaluation and RNA Interference in the Brown Marmorated Stink Bug

The brown marmorated stink bug (Halyomorpha halys) has emerged as one of the most important invasive insect pests in the United States. Functional genomics in H. halys remains unexplored as molecular resources in this insect have recently been developed. To facilitate functional genomics research, we evaluated ten common insect housekeeping genes (RPS26, EF1A, FAU, UBE4A, ARL2, ARP8, GUS, TBP, ...

In the United States, California (CA) is the primary commercial producer of pistachio nuts, Pistacia vera L. (Anacardiaceae). The brown marmorated stink bug (BMSB), Halyomorpha halys (Stål) (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae), an invasive and polyphagous insect pest from Asia, has established in urban areas in several pistachio-growing counties in CA. Breeding BMSB populations have not been detected in c...

Nutrient Content of Brown Marmorated Stink Bug Eggs and Comparisons Between Experimental Uses

Halyomorpha halys (Stål) (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae), the brown marmorated stink bug (BMSB), has become a major pest. Seven experiments examined the nutrient content of their eggs in the context of female reproductive investment and use for experiments. Among 542 clusters examined, an average egg contained 23.50 ± 0.561 μg lipid, 3.17 ± 0.089 μg glycogen, and 3.08 ± 0.056 μg sugar. Mature eggs wi...
